The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Senior Marketing Officer from the Directorate of Marketing & Inspection (Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India), Nashik Sub-office, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. One lakh from a complainant.

The arrest follows a complaint lodged against two officials from the Directorate of Marketing & Inspection. The complainant alleged that the officials sought an undue advantage of Rs. One lakh in exchange for issuing an AGMARK License for the 'Govardhan Ghee' brand produced by his company.

CBI conducted a successful trap operation, apprehending the Senior Marketing Officer while he was receiving the bribe. He was subsequently arrested and presented before the Hon’ble Special Judge, CBI Cases, Nashik. The court has granted CBI police custody of the officer until September 5, 2024.

Further investigations revealed incriminating documents during searches at the accused’s residential and office premises.

The CBI continues to investigate the matter.
