Valediction Ceremony of Orientation Programme “Uttarayan-2024” for newly promoted ACsIT

The Valediction Ceremony of the Orientation Programme “Uttarayan-2024”, a seven-week long training for the newly promoted ACsIT was held at National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), Nagpur on 23rd August 2024. Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur was the Chief Guest for the occasion. 131 newly promoted Assistant Commissioners of Income Tax have undergone training at NADT, Nagpur in the Orientation Programme.

The Course Director of the Orientation Programme, Uttarayan-2024 presented the course report. The batch comprises 131 officers including 38 lady officers. It represents 19 States and 3 Union territories.

The Orientation Programme is holistic in nature, incorporating a wide range of learning experiences aimed at broadening the perspective of the officers. The programme has been planned to enhance the domain knowledge and functional skills of the Officers, while focussing on required behavioural skills, thereby following a competency driven approach for capacity development as mandated by Mission Karmayogi. Through a meticulously planned curriculum, the programme seeks to equip the participants with the knowledge, skills, and mindset required to excel in their roles and contribute effectively to the development of the nation.

The training methodology is grounded in the concept of "Viksit Bharat," in line with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India focusing on fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation among the officers. The programme includes a mix of classroom sessions, practical exercises, case studies, and interactive discussions, coveringh various aspects of tax administration, leadership, and public service ensuring “Prudent” approach as envisaged by Chairman, CBDT. The programme also emphasizes the importance of ethical conduct, integrity, and empathy in public service, ensuring that the officers are well-prepared to meet the challenges of their new responsibilities.

The Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Kumar in his address congratulated the newly promoted officers on completion of the programme. He added that the officers should be open to new learning avenues and due focus should be given to the diligent use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in tune with Human Intelligence (HI). He further added that due interpretation of law and application of law to the factual matrix are legitimate expectations from the officers.
