Western Railway Celebrates 78th Independence Day


General Manager, Western Railway inaugurates the Renovated Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) Cath Lab at Jagjivan Ram Hospital

Western Railway commemorated the 78th Independence Day at its headquarters in Churchgate, Mumbai today. General Manager of Western Railway, Ashok Kumar Misra, hoisted the National Flag, marking the beginning of the celebration. The event commenced with a ceremonial parade of the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

  

In his Independence Day address, General Manager Misra highlighted the recent achievements and milestones of Western Railway. He paid tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters and heroes, urging all to draw inspiration from their legacy to achieve the vision of a Viksit Bharat. Shri Misra motivated the staff to persist in their hard work and strive for excellence, emphasizing that these efforts will elevate Western Railway to new heights.

President of Western Railway’s Women Welfare Organization (WRWWO), Kshama Misra donated essential utility items, including a water purifier and a sewing machine, to Jagjivan Ram Hospital. The items were received by Dr. Konda Anuradha, Principal Chief Medical Director of Western Railway. The occasion also featured a vibrant cultural programme with musical and dance performances celebrating patriotic themes.

In a notable announcement, Dy. General Manager (G) of Western Railway, Shri Ujjwal Deo, , revealed that four WR athletes, including three officers and a spouse of an officer, are preparing to participate in the Ladakh Marathon. The athletes will compete in various categories, including the Full Marathon (42 Km), Khardungla Challenge (72 Km), and Silk Route Ultra (122 Km), under the banner of the Western Railway Sports Association.

Shri IG-cum-Principal Chief Security Commissioner of Western Railway, Ajoy Sadany, Additional General Manager of Western Railway, Prakash Butani, Principal Heads of Departments, and other senior railway officers were also present.

Later, GM Shri Misra visited Western Railway’s Jagjivan Ram Hospital at Mumbai Central, where he inaugurated the newly renovated Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) Cath Lab. He commended the successful implementation of NABH accreditation, underscoring the hospital's commitment to high standards of medical care. The inauguration was attended by Dr. Konda Anuradha, Principal Chief Medical Director, Dr. Mamta Sharma, Medical Director of Jagjivan Ram Hospital, and other senior railway officials and hospital staff were also present.
