The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly (TNLA) had constituted the Standing Committees for the year 2024-25 on 29 June 2024. Two Legislature Committees in Tamil Nadu viz., Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) and Committee on Public Undertakings (CoPU) consider the various Audit Reports on Government of Tamil Nadu prepared by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). The Hon’ble Chairpersons of the above mentioned Committees for the year 2024-25 are             Thiru. K. Selvaperunthagai and Thiru. A.P. Nandakumar, respectively. The Hon’ble Minister of Finance and Human Resources Management, Thiru. Thangam Thenarasu is an ex-officio member of PAC.

In order to brief the members of the newly constituted committees on their duties and powers, Thiru. D. Jaisankar, Principal Accountant General (Audit-I), Tamil Nadu and Thiru. K.P. Anand, Principal Accountant General (Audit-II), Tamil Nadu, conducted an orientation programme on       30 July 2024 at 5:30 PM at Anna Administrative Staff College (Anna Institute of Management), Chennai.

The Orientation Programme started with a rendition of Tamizhthai vaazhthu. The Welcome address was delivered by Senior Deputy Accountant General, Thiru. Abraham Judas Cephas, IAAS.  The Programme was inaugurated with lighting of Kuthuvilakku and an inaugural address by the Chief Guest, Thiru. M. Appavu, Hon’ble speaker, TNLA. The Guest of Honour,

A briefing on the duties and responsibilities of CAG as well as the PAC and CoPU and the role of the Principal Accountants General during discussion, was presented as a PowerPoint presentation by Principal Accountant General (Audit-I), Thiru. D. Jaisankar, IAAS and Principal Accountant General (Audit-II), Thiru. K.P. Anand, IAAS. The Programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Senior Deputy Accountant General, Thiru. K. Viswanathan, IAAS.
