Director General of NCC Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh visits Goa, discusses expansion plans in State

The Director General of National Cadet Corps (NCC) Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, who was on a two-day official visit to Goa, met with the local unit officers of the NCC to discuss expansion plans of the wing in the State, at the office of 1 Goa Battalion NCC Panaji on Friday, 26 July, 2024.
Lt Gen Singh, who arrived on Thursday, 25 July, urged the officers to work towards encouraging the students across the State to join the Corps.

The DG appreciated the raising of the Goa NCC football team for the Subroto Cup and expressed his full support for the cadets to excel in the jogo bonito.
Impressed with the cadets’ participation in the Cuncolim Chieftains Martyrs Memorial Day function, he urged the officials that the cadets be taken on visits to historical and heritage sites within Goa for generating nationalism and patriotism. He also said that the participation of the cadets in Cuncolim function should be made a regular feature.

Earlier on Friday, Lt Gen Singh flagged off a motorcycle rally organised by Ex-NCC Cadets’ Association-Goa in association with Junior Chamber International and Central Bureau of Communication-Goa (CBC) from Miramar Beach to Azad Maidan, Panaji, in commemoration of the Silver Jubilee of Kargil Vijay Diwas. He also inaugurated a photo exhibition on Kargil War organized by the CBC.
The DG also paid floral tributes at Martyrs’ Memorial at Azad Maidan in respect of the brave hearts who took the supreme sacrifice for the country.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the supreme sacrifices of our martyrs and the bravery of our war heroes in reclaiming the Kargil hills will continue to inspire current and future generations to safeguard our nation's borders.
