The Vice President of India and Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the newly constructed Prerna Sthal at the Parliament House Complex today. The Sthal houses the statues of India's eminent leaders and freedom fighters that were previously dispersed across different places in the Parliament House complex.

The initiative is aimed at enhancing visitor experience through easier access and use of modern technology such as QR codes to narrate the life stories of these inspiring figures of Indian history.

Describing the occasion as motivational and memorable, Shri Dhankhar said that he never imagined in his life he would get such an opportunity to honour our great leaders in this manner. He expressed confidence that all citizens who would visit this Prerna Sthal will get energized and motivated through the inspiring stories.

After the unveiling of the plaque at Prerna Sthal, the Vice President along with other dignitaries offered floral tributes to all Statues at the Sthal.

The Speaker of Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Dr Harivansh, several Union Ministers including Shri Ashwini Vaishnav, Shri Kiren Rijiju, Shri Arujun Ram Meghwal were present on the occasion.

Following is the text of the Vice President’s statement after inauguration of ‘Prerna Sthal’ - 

“इस कार्य को मैं बहुत ही प्रशंसनीय कार्य मानता हूं। एक जगह ही महापुरुषों का दर्शन हो जायेंगे। उनके विचार, उनका व्यक्तित्व कितना हमें प्रभावित कर सकता है, यह मैंने आकर यहां देखा। प्रेरणा स्थल के बारे में सुना, सोचा, पर यह जमीनी हकीकत इस शानदार तरीके से होगा, यह देखकर मैं बहुत प्रभावित हूं।

I can tell you this ‘Sthal' is motivational and inspirational और जो भी यहां कुछ भी पल बिताएगा, भावों में इतना लीन होगा। अंदाजा लगाइए, भारत के इतिहास में इन महापुरुषों का क्या योगदान है। इन महापुरुषों को किस कालखंड में याद किया गया। ऐसी स्थिति मैंने सेंट्रल हॉल में देखी। 1989 में सांसद बना, उसके बाद उसका परिवर्तन निरंतरता से हुआ। आप अंदाजा लगाइए कि आजादी के कितने साल बाद डॉक्टर अंबेडकर को भारत रत्न मिला। मुझे गौरव प्राप्त है कि उस समय मैं केंद्रीय मंत्रिपरिषद का सदस्य था, लोकसभा का सदस्य था।

हमारे महापुरुषों की जितनी कद्र हम करें, कम है। आज का दिन उसी कड़ी के अंदर प्रेरणादायक भी है, सदा यादगार भी रहेगा। मेरे जीवन का यह पल है जिसकी मैंने कभी कल्पना नहीं की थी कि मुझे यह मौका मिलेगा कि मैं इस तरीके से उन महापुरुषों का आदर कर सकूँ। महात्मा गांधी जी, अंबेडकर जी महाराणा प्रताप जी बिरसा मुंडा जी नाम देखिए एक-एक और चौधरी देवीलाल जी जिन्होंने मेरा मार्ग राजनीति में प्रशस्त किया। वहां देख कर तो मैं भावुक हो गया। 

यह पल ऐसे है जब देखा हर एक का व्यक्तित्व, जानकारी थी पर यहां आकर एक नई ऊर्जा का संचार होता है। मैं यह मान कर चलता हूं कि जो भी - हर वर्ग के बच्चों से लेकर, विद्यार्थियों से लेकर, नवयुवकों से लेकर- जो भी इस प्रेरणा स्थल पर आएंगे, वह बहुत अच्छी यादें लेकर जाएंगे। हमारे इतिहास को याद रखेंगे और यह बहुत ही प्रशंसनीय कार्य हुआ है। मैं उन सभी को साधुवाद का पात्र मानता हूं जिनके मन में यह सोच आई और वह सोच वास्तविकता में परिवर्तित हो गयी आज के दिन से।”
