Secretary of Department of Defence R&D & Chairman DRDO Commends DRL Tezpur's Innovations and Collaborative Efforts

The Secretary of Department of Defence R&D & Chairman DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization), Dr. Samir V Kamat, along with Director General (Life Sciences), Dr. U K Singh visited the the Defence Research Laboratory (DRL)- DRDO Tezpur on May 23. During the visit, Dr. Kamat handed over Licensing Agreements for Transfer of Technology of Anti-microbial bed sheets and Anti-bed bug bed sheets to three industries. Additionally, he released the Annual Report of DRL, highlighting its progress and achievements over the past year.

Dr. Samir V Kamat, commended the scientists, officers, and staff of DRL for their significant contributions and urged them to reaffirm their commitment to national service by delivering cutting-edge technologies to bolster the nation's strength and self-reliance. Dr. Kamat emphasized that reformation and transformation are essential to optimize the performance of an R&D organization.
Addressing the audience, Dr. U K Singh, DG (LS), stressed the importance of establishing collaborations with academia and industry for translational research related to the Armed Forces. He reiterated the necessity of addressing the challenges faced by soldiers in the forward areas of the North East, underscoring the role of DRDO and its academic and industry partners.
Director DRL, Dr. DV Kamboj in his welcome address, provided an insightful overview of DRL Tezpur's pivotal role and notable achievements. Dr. Kamboj highlighted the laboratory's expertise in vector control, water quality enhancement, pharmaceutical technology, and bio-waste management. Moreover, he emphasized DRL's new R&D directions, particularly in soldier support for jungle warfare, signature mitigation, and entomological bio-threat prediction & mitigation.
