"Driving Change Together: NEEPCO and SISSP Forge Alliance to Fuel Progress"

Gandhinagar, Gujarat, the School of Internal Security and SMART Policing (SISSP) at Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) sparked a trailblazing alliance redefining Security and Energy Dynamics by signing MoU with the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO). Delegation from NEEPCO led by Major General Rajesh Kumar Jha, AVSM* (Retd.); Director (Personnel)—NEEPCO; and Major General Deepak Mehra, Kirti Chakra, AVSM, VSM, (Retd.) Director, School of Internal Security and Smart Policing (SISSP), RRU, signed the MoU under the able guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bimal N. Patel.

This landmark occasion marks the signing of the first of its kind   Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between a Public Sector Unit (PSU) and RRU. It signifies a shared commitment to innovation and excellence where the ‘East meets the West’. With a focus on meeting NEEPCO's specific requirements, the collaboration will harness the collective strengths of the involved parties to pioneer advancements in training, research, education and extension programs. Under the purview of this visionary alliance, SISSP and RRU pledge to tailor training programs to NEEPCO's needs and offering bespoke initiatives in various domains. This partnership will also afford students of SISSP invaluable opportunities for research and internships within NEEPCO, bridging academia with real-world application.

Major General Deepak Mehra, Director SISSP highlighted the importance of strategic collaboration in leveraging expertise and resources to meet the dynamic challenges faced by the energy sector. The emphasis on joint efforts to drive innovation and excellence in training and research reflects a shared vision for sustainable growth and development.

Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice-Chancellor of Rashtriya Raksha University described this partnership as a new alliance that redefines national security by integrating knowledge, skills, and resources from both institutions. This collaboration is poised to set new benchmarks in addressing critical issues related to internal security and SMART policing in alignment with the energy industry’s requirements.

Moreover, SISSP and RRU stand ready to lend their expertise in fortifying and refining training courses, both online and offline, to align seamlessly with NEEPCO's evolving demands. The collaboration extends to designing consultancy and research projects in tandem with NEEPCO, with a focus on addressing mutual problem statements and advancing shared objectives. In a spirit of cooperation, SISSP, RRU, and NEEPCO have committed to sharing facilities and resources, fostering robust academic, training, research, and innovation interactions.

This MoU between SISSP and NEEPCO signifies a step towards fostering synergies between academia and industry, paving the way for transformative initiatives that will contribute significantly to enhancing national security and promoting innovation in the energy sector.

The School of Internal Security and SMART Policing (SISSP, RRU) under the aegis of Rashtriya Raksha University is at the forefront of SMART Policing, combining theory and practical application. North Eastern Electric Power Corporation is a Central Public Sector undertaking. It is under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, and a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd. It was formed on 2nd April 1976 to plan, investigate, design, construct, generate, operate, and maintain power stations in the North Eastern Region of India. NEEPCO is conferred with the Schedule A- Miniratna Category-I CPSU status.
