Union Minister for Tribal Affairs; Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shri Arjun Munda hosted a reception function in New Delhi to honour 75^th Republic Day Tribal guests and Tableau Artists from across the country, today. Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs and Jal Shakti, Shri Bisweshwar Tudu and Minister of State for Tribal Affairs; Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar also graced the occasion, along with other dignitaries and senior officers of the Tribal Affairs Ministry.

On the occasion Shri Arjun Munda said, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in the last 10 years, the Central Government has focused on the development of tribal people with a holistic approach. I am satisfied that its impact is now visible in the lives of tribal communities. This was the section of our society which was the most deprived, but the Prime Minister's resolution of 5S mantra - Swarozgar, Siksha, Swasthya, Sammaan and Swabhiman - has led to the upliftment of the tribal society, given them a dignified life with socio-economic development.”

The Minister also added that this is an extremely proud moment for the Janjatiya community of India that President Droupadi Murmu mentioned about the inauguration of ten museums across the country for Unsung Tribal Freedom fighters, in her address to the joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament at the beginning of Budget Session 2024. Tribal areas experiencing rapid development and good governance under Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas’, ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’, ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Viksit Bharat’, Shri Munda said.

 

On the occasion, Secretary (Tribal Affairs), Shri Vibhu Nayar said that every year the Ministry invites guests from the Tribal Community from the States to promote intermingling of different Tribal cultures, in the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.

 

The tribal guests and artists were felicitated and prizes were distributed by the dignitaries present. Various vibrant tribal dances that were showcased during the event included Maibi Jagoi dance from Manipur, Thillana song from Andhra Pradesh, Parab Nritya from Chhattisgarh, Garba  from Gujarat, Traditional Folk from Ladakh, Alarippu song from Tamil Nadu, Nagpuri Damkach Nritya from Jharkhand, Kesari from Maharastra and Haryanavi folk (Bole papiha) from Haryana.

 

 

 

Earlier in a significant gesture of appreciation and recognition, President Droupadi Murmu met the tribal guests, tableaux artists, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets, and other officials at Rashtrapati Bhawan and engaged into meaningful interactions and appreciated their efforts in keeping India’s rich tribal traditions and history, for the Republic Day Parade 2024.

In another programme, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met and interacted with the tribal guests, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets who had come from different states of the country to participate in the Republic Day Parade, at the Prime Minister’s residence.

Also, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs had organized a welcome programme at the World Youth Centre, Delhi for the tribal guests from different states of the country who had come to participate in the Republic Day. On this occasion, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Smt. R. Jaya welcomed all the tribal guests.

 

Tribal guests from various remote areas of the country traveled in Delhi Metro for the first time, which was an unforgettable moment for them. The tribal guests visited the Delhi Metro Museum and saw various panels, models, photo galleries and exhibits depicting the glorious journey of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.

 

 

The tribal guests also visited the Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial in New Delhi and got detailed information about the life, works and contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in India’s freedom struggle.
