Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) celebrated 75th Republic Day at Central Office, Mumbai.

Chairman KVIC Shri Manoj Kumar hoisted the national flag as the chief guest.

He said on this occasion that, Under the guidance of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, ‘New Khadi of New India’ has today become the identity of ‘self-reliant and developed India’.

On the occasion of 75th Republic Day, along with flag hoisting, cultural programs were organized at the central office of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) in Mumbai. KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar hoisted the flag as the chief guest. Addressing the officers and employees on this occasion, he said that Khadi and Village Industries Commission is an extension of the legacy of Pujya Bapu, Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi who considered self-reliant Gram Swaraj as a symbol of a strong republic. In the last 9 years, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, KVIC has taken significant steps towards making rural India economically self-reliant. There has been an unprecedented increase in the production of Khadi and village industry products through Khadi institutions. As a result of the 'Guarantee of Modi Government', the turnover of Khadi and village industry products has crossed the figure of Rs 1.34 lakh crore, while more than 9.50 lakh new jobs have been created during this period. He further said that due to the efforts of 'Modi Government' in the last 9 years, the remuneration of Khadi artisans has increased by about 233 per cent, which has increased their economic prosperity and increased the resources for self-employment in rural areas. From East to West, from North to South, India's heritage Khadi is weaving the fabric of 'One India, Best India'.

Addressing the officers and employees at the central office in Mumbai, Chairman KVIC said that we should be proud of the fact that India is the largest democracy in the world. As a sovereign nation we have the longest written Constitution in the world. The Constitution of the nation provides us with rights and freedoms, which makes our Indian identity glorious. He further said that Republic Day is a medium to show one's patriotism towards the country. The more self-reliant and developed the nation is, the greater the feeling of nationalism. He further said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, ‘New Khadi of New India’ has today become the identity of ‘self-reliant and developed India’. Khadi is not just a cloth, rather it has become a 'weapon' and 'weapon' to build a strong, prosperous and inclusive India.

He said that Vocal for Local is not just a slogan but a culture. The gift of Khadi by our Honorable Prime Minister to the respectable guests attending the G-20 once again resonated this resolution. And with the guarantee from our respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, will create new paces of success.

Chairman  KVIC Shri Manoj Kumar once again reiterated that while before independence, under the leadership of Pujya Bapu, Khadi became the weapon of the national freedom movement against the British, today under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, it has become the leader of 'Self-reliant India'.  In the last 9 years, the business of Khadi and village industry products has grown rapidly due to the mantra of ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Make in India’.

The production of Khadi clothes has increased from Rs 880 crore to Rs 3000 crore and the sale of Khadi products has increased from Rs 1170 crore to Rs 6000 crore. Not only this, during the Khadi Mahotsav, sale of Rs 1.5 crore was made in a day in the showroom of Connaught Place, Delhi and sale of Rs 25 crore was made in a month in Khadi Bhandar. Commission's Expert member, KVIC  Shri  Shirish Kedare, Chief Executive Officer Shri  Vineet Kumar and other senior officers and employees were present in the program.
