Ministry of Information and Broadcasting opens entries for the 18th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) 2024 Edition
Documentaries, short non-fiction films, animation films to compete for awards and a total cash prize of Rs 44 lakhs

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced the opening of entries for the 18th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF), one of South Asia's most esteemed platforms for documentaries, animation films and short fiction films. The 18th MIFF, 2024 Edition is scheduled to be held in Mumbai from June 15, 2024 - June 21, 2024. MIFF celebrates and rewards the best works in the non-fiction and animation genre and invites filmmakers from across the world and India to participate in the competition to win both recognition and a total cash money of Rs 44 lakhs as prize.
The entries in all three categories have been opened from January 15th and will be open till February 15th. Entries will also be open from February 16th to February 29th, and can be submitted with a late fee.
The application process is exclusively online and can be accessed on www.filmfreeway.in and www.miff.in.
Filmmakers can send their entries in the following categories:
Competition Sections
1. International Competition
2. National Competition
Eligibility Criteria
1. International Competition:
- Films made in India or abroad between 01 January 2022 and 31 December 2023 are eligible.
2. National Competition:
- Films made in India by Indian citizens between 01 January 2022 and 31 December 2023 are eligible.
Additional Guidelines:
- One film can be entered in one competition section only, either in International or National.
- Films entered or screened in earlier MIFF editions, shorter versions, or revised/re-edited versions will not be eligible.
- Animation feature films, film series, episodes made/commissioned for TV Channels/Cable TV/OTT & any other digital platform are not eligible for entry.
- Films can be entered by any organization/agency or by individual film producers/directors who hold the copyright. There is no restriction on the number of entries.
Cash Prizes:
A total cash prize of 44 lakhs will be awarded to selected participants across various categories.

Established in 1990 and organized by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, MIFF stands as the oldest and largest film festival for non-feature films in South Asia, a celebration of creativity, storytelling, and the art of filmmaking, with its Organizing Committee, led by the Secretary, I & B, consisting of eminent film personalities, documentary makers, and film critics.
