A one-day training programme for the State Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (SMCMC) was held on Friday at the conference hall of the office of the Chief Electoral Officer(CEO), Gangtok(Sikkim) for the coming Lok Sabha elections and Sikkim Legislative Assembly elections, 2024.

Shri Kiran Kumar Thatal, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Chungthang gave a lecture on paid news and role as well as responsibilities of MCMC as a resource person in the training programme with a comprehensive power point presentation. He also interacted with the members of the state level and district level members of the MCMC on practical problems faced by the committees during the election process.

Smt. Pema LhadenLama, Additional CEO, Sikkim and other senior officials of the CEO, Sikkim, senior officials of the Press Information Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and Akashvani, Gangtok as well as district level officers of the state administration involved in the electoral process also attended the programme.
