The Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the NIT Tiruchirappalli’s "AMETHYST" Hostel valued to the tune of  Rs 41 Crores on 2^nd January, 2024 in the presence of Hon’ble  Governor of Tamil Nadu Shri. R. N Ravi, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Shri M. K. Stalin, Hon’ble Union Minister of State of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan, Hon’ble Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Hon’ble Lok Saba Member of Parliament                                                               Shri. S. Thirunavukkarasar and the Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education including Technical Education, Electronics, Science and Technology, Backward Classes Welfare, Most Backward Classes Welfare, Denotified Communities Shri R. S. Raja Kannappan, Govt of Tamil Nadu.

Spanning an impressive 1.2 Lakh Sq Ft, the hostel's architectural grandeur is complemented by its purpose-driven design. Boasting 253 meticulously crafted rooms, the facility accommodates 506 students, with a unique focus on meeting the needs of 1500 students from Economically Weaker Sections. This approach underscores NIT Tiruchirappalli's dedication to fostering inclusivity and social responsibility in education.
