TRIBES India Store opened at Coimbatore

On the birth anniversary of ‘Bhagwan Birsa Munda’ TRIFED (Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd.) under the aegis of Ministry of Tribal Affairs, proudly announces the initiation of the Aadi Bazaar at Fort Kochi, Ernakulam, Kerala and several other initiatives for the benefit of tribal population in the country, to hone them into the socio-economic forefront. This is an exclusive event aiming to provide a platform for talented tribal artisans to showcase and recognized their exceptional craftsmanship from across the country. TRIFED's commitment in empowering tribal communities and preserving their cultural heritage shines through this endeavor.

15th November is the birth anniversary of ‘Freedom Fighter Birsa Munda’ who is revered as ‘Bhagwan’ by the country and tribal communities across the nation. Bhagwan Birsa Munda was an iconic freedom fighter, social reformer, and revered tribal leader of the country, who fought bravely against the exploitative system of the British colonial government. He organized and led the tribal movement, giving a call for ‘Ulgulan’ (Revolt) to the tribals. He encouraged tribals to understand their cultural roots and observe unity. The Government has declared 15 November as ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’ dedicated to the memory of all the brave tribal freedom fighters. On the occasion of ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ on 15 Nov 23 the Aadi Bazaar will be held at St. Andrew Hall, CSI Church, Fort Kochi from the 15th to the 21st of November, from 0930 AM to 0900 PM, catering to the vibrant tourists and local region of Fort Kochi and Ernakulam. With tribes from diverse backgrounds who are invited to participate and showcase their extraordinary artistry, unique traditions, and remarkable skills through their diverse products, the event will facilitate enduring support, market access and opportunities for the artisans and also tourists in the region through the exhibition.

The Aadi Bazaar event will showcase a breathtaking array of tribal art forms, including handwoven textiles, intricate jewelry, sublime woodwork, exquisite pottery, and mesmerizing paintings. Each masterpiece reflects the distinctive identity and cultural tapestry of the tribes, narrating captivating tales of artistic virtuosity. The Transcendent Tribal Aadi Bazaar in Fort Kochi, Kerala epitomize TRIFED's unwavering dedication to the preservation and promotion of tribal art and culture. TRIFED encourages immensely talented tribal artisans to embrace this exceptional opportunity to exhibit their unparalleled craftsmanship. Through meaningful  connections with discerning patrons, TRIFED aims to create an illustrious future for their  timeless art forms.

As part of the array of events being organized by the Regional Office South, TRIFED two uniquely identified Tribes India showroom are also being inaugurated at Archeological Survey of India (ASI), Humpi Karnataka and Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding (IFGTB), Coimbatore Tamil Nadu. Coimbatore outlet was inaugurated by Dr.C.Kunhikannan, Director IFGTB Coimbatore. This would give a boost to the tribal products being showcased perennially in the region and raise awareness in support to the cause of tribals in the country and improve their socio-economic strata. On the occasion of ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ on 15 Nov 23 the ‘Hamara Sankalp Viksit Bharat programme’ will be held in 70 districts across the nation having significant Scheduled Tribe population. As part of the ‘Hamara Sankalp Viksit Bharat programme’ officials of the Regional Office South TRIFED are actively part of several districts in the states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Goa and Kerala, for familiarisation with various schemes of TRIFED for the upliftment of the tribal population. These include nineteen blocks in Karnataka, eleven blocks in Tamil Nadu, five blocks in Goa and one block in Kerala. This is to encourage local VDVKs, tribal artisans, Self Help Groups (SHGs) and related tribal entities to assemble and understand the benefits of various schemes for their socio-economic betterment.
