The Department of Computer Science, Pondicherry University organized a noteworthy program encompassing three pivotal events. The inaugural event was dedicated to welcoming the incoming batch of freshers, followed by the grand inauguration of the Pondicherry University Department of Computer Science Centre for Industry Institute Interface (PUDoCS CIII). This was followed with the formal launch of the Research Scholars Forum. Distinguished faculty members, scholars, and students from the Department of Computer Science, alongside participants from various other departments, were present at this remarkable gathering.
The program commenced with a warm welcome delivered by Professor S. K. V Jayakumar, Head of the Department of Computer Science. He extended his greetings to the esteemed guests and offered insights into the department's dynamic activities.
Professor S. Sivasathya, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology, congratulated the Department for its proactive role in orchestrating this significant program.Prof. Joseph Selvin, Director of Research and Development Cell encouraged the scholars to concentrate on the evolving research problems.
The Honorable Vice Chancellor, Professor Gurmeet Singh, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the role of young students and scholars in contributing to the nation's development through their technological innovations. He urged them to equip themselves with the necessary skills to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of technology.
Dr. K.M. Suceendran, Global Head of AIP at Tata Consultancy Services, served as the chief guest and highlighted the imperative need for developing cybersecurity solutions in the country. He generously offered students the opportunity to enroll in TCS's online cybersecurity certificate course free of charge.
Mr. Jawahar Govindaraj, Chief Technology Officer and Head of AI and Automation at Gen S4 Technologies in the United Kingdom, delivered a keynote address, shedding light on the latest trends in Generative AI. He encouraged participants to cultivate AI skills to remain competitive in the field.
Dr. Samuel Rajkumar, Director of the Career Development Centre at VIT, provided valuable insights into building a professional profile and stressed the significance of acquiring unique skills for enhanced employability.
Dr. L. Arunachalam, Dean of Training and Placements at Sairam Group of Educational Institutes, directed students and scholars to participate in hackathons as a means to develop problem-solving skills. He emphasized effective time management and smart utilization of smartphones.
The vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Sunitha, an Associate Professor of Computer Science, who expressed gratitude to the administration for their unwavering support in planning and executing this grand event.The program concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem, marking a momentous occasion in the annals of Pondicherry University's Department of Computer Science.
