The Customs K9 Squad has done various successful operations earlier this year. The Customs K9 Squad announces the retirement of detector dog "Irina", due to illness, after two years of exemplary service. Irina is retiring as her illness has prevented her from fulfilling her duties. Her unwavering commitment and prompt duty attendance were integral to the K9 squad's success. Sadly, her illness has led to her early retirement.
In recognition of the growing concern of smuggling of prohibited Narcotic drugs and wildlife species, this office has taken proactive steps to combat this illegal trade. To fill the void left by Irina's retirement, two specialized wildlife detection dogs will be deployed to assist in detecting wildlife animals and related contraband. Currently these detector dogs are in completion stage of their rigorous training. These new additions to the Customs K9 squad will further enhance the capabilities to address the increasing challenges posed by illegal narcotic drugs and wildlife trafficking syndicates.
The Customs K9 Dog Squad expresses deep appreciation for Irina's service and dedication. This office wishes her a peaceful retirement as she departs from active duty, leaving an indelible mark on the department.
