05 (Five) Athletes of Para Table Tennis from National centre of Excellence (SAI NCoE) Gandhinagar participated in ITTF ValueJet Table Tennis Tournament held at Lagos, Nigeria, which was the ranking Tournament. It provided opportunity to improve the world ranking. This participation in the international competition was the part of foreign exposure programme by SAI under the NCoE scheme.

Among the 5 athletes, Pranchi Pande has won One Individual Silver and 2 Bronze medals in Mixed and Women Doubles. Yogesh Dagar and Anuj Gupta has won Bronze in Individual and Mixed Doubles. Bhavika Kukadia has won Bronze in Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Savita A. has won Silver in Women’s Double and Mixed Doubles. Total of 11 medals (3 Silver, 8 Bronze) was won by the team. The contingent was led by Coach Shri. S N Parekh.

The said tournament reserved initial two days for classification of sports class of para athletes. In Para sports classification is an essential part to enable athletes to participate in any recognized international tournaments. Participation in this tournament helped in classification of the athletes from NCoE.

Sports Authority of India's (SAI) National Centre of Excellence (NCoE), Gandhinagar is the nodal center for the training and development of para-athletes in various disciplines including Para Athletics, Para Fencing, Para Badminton, Para Table Tennis, Para Powerlifting, and Para Swimming. Under the NCoE scheme, the para athletes are imparted training under the expert coaches and sports scientists with lodging and boarding facilities. They are entitled for the domestic competition exposure upto Rs. 50,000/- per annum, medical insurance, educational grant and selected athletes are given foreign exposure also.

The Para Table Tennis team returned on 16/10/2023 from Nigeria and was warmly welcomed by Officials of the SAI, Gandhinagar.
