BIS is organizing a Standards Conclave - ‘Manak Mahotsav’ on World Standards Day 2023

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is organizing a Standards Conclave – Manak Mahotsav on the occasion of World Standards Day 2023 tomorrow. Every year on 14th October, Bureau of Indian Standards celebrates World Standards Day, which is a means of paying tribute to the collaborative efforts of thousands of experts who develop the voluntary technical agreements that are published as Standards. The theme for the above programme is “Standards for Sustainable Development Goals – A Shared Vision for a Better World  - SDG 3 – Good Health and Well Being ”.

As part of Manak Mahotsav, BIS is also organizing a Sensitization Program for Gram Panchayat Presidents, in Palgarh District and Bhiwandi-Taluka of Thane District,  Youth to Youth campaign with Quality connect Programs in 8 districts of Maharashtra by volunteers(Manak Mitra)  from leading engineering colleges, on 14th October 2023, for creating awareness of quality and standards amongst the masses.

Further BIS is organizing a door-to-door campaign, Nukkad Natak/Street play program, Quiz competitions, Debate/Technical Sessions on Standards by Engineering College students on 14th October, 2023 by engaging youth volunteers, informed the Deputy Director General, Western Regional Office, BIS, Shri Sanjay Goswami.

During their interaction with the Youth, the volunteers will inform about BIS, common household items under BIS mandatory certification and demonstrate BIS website, and the Know Your Standards feature along with BIS Care App and the Grievance Redressal System. 

BIS is the National Standards Body of India, under Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Govt. of India. Our main activities are Standard Formulation, Certification, Laboratory Testing, Hallmarking and Systems Certification. BIS is contributing to the national economy by ensuring safe, reliable and quality goods, minimizing health hazards to consumers, protecting the environment etc.

Shri. Uday Samant, Minister of Industries, Government of Maharashtra will be the Chief Guest and Prof. Dr. Karbhari Vishwanath Kale, Vice Chancellor, Dr. BabaSaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere, Raigad, Maharashtra will be the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Further, eminent speakers and experts from industry and Government bodies will discuss on the Theme and initiatives taken by their organizations, and Distinguished Stakeholders will also be felicitated during the programme.
