Puducherry and Oulgaret Municipalities have jointly conducted PONDY SWACHH MARATHN today at Puducherry as a part of Swachhata Hi Seva activities. Shri.R.Selvam, Speaker has flagged off the Marathon race in the presence of Shri.K.Lakshminarayanan, Minister of Public works in the Beach road. Nearly 700 individuals of Male, Female and Transgender participated in this Marathon.  Participation of 113 transgender is really a testimony for the inclusive gender activity. The participants run through the streets of boulevard and completed five kilometres distance. Cash Prizes were announced for each category of Men, Women and Transgender.  First prize is Rs.10, 000, Second prize is Rs.5, 000 and Third prize is Rs.3,000.

In the Male Category, Mugilan, Gowtham and Soundararajan bagged the first three prizes.  Likewise, Sonali, Vainavi and Vishaly bagged the first three prizes in the female category.  Min Mini, Ashmita and Yashika scored the first three places in the Transgender category.

Shri.N.Rangasamy, Chief Minister of Puducherry has distributed the prizes.  Then he also distributed cleaning tools and inaugurated the one hour voluntary cleaning works. Shri.S.Sivakumar, Commissioner, Puducherry Municipality and Shri.A.Sureshraj, Commissioner, Oulgaret Municipality have made the arrangements for the Marathon.
