Successful Workshop on "Making Sense of Fashion/Fashion Reporting" Hosted by NIFT Gandhinagar Under Outreach Programme

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Gandhinagar, in collaboration with the Gujarat Media Club, concluded a highly successful workshop titled "Making Sense of Fashion/Fashion Reporting." This workshop, held as part of the NIFT Outreach Programme, marked a remarkable initiative by Prof. Dr. Sameer Sood, Director of NIFT Gandhinagar.

Prof. Dr. Sameer Sood, Director, NIFT Gandhinagar elaborated that the workshop was designed to bridge the gap between society and NIFT's activities while demystifying the world of fashion for the broader audience especially the media fraternity. It provided an exclusive opportunity for press and media professionals to gain valuable insights into the dynamic and ever-evolving fashion industry.

Prof. Dr. Sameer Sood, Director, NIFT Gandhinagar in his address to the audience commended the masterful interweaving of influences from Indian textile arts, the ancient Indus Valley Civilization, and the timeless narratives of the Ramayana and Mahabharata on the global stage of fashion and craftsmanship. He elaborated how Sanskrit verses vividly depicted attire from these epics, offering compelling examples of international inspirations such as Egyptian cotton, Japanese Shibori, and Moroccan tile designs. Notably, it illuminated the enduring legacy of Ajrakh printing, an ancient Indian block-printing technique, as a wellspring of inspiration for artists and designers worldwide. This rich tapestry of Indian textile crafts transcended geographical boundaries and historical eras, serving as a testament to the interconnectedness of cultures.

Mr. Ranjeet Kumar explored the significance of Fashion Accessories, and Dr. Vandita Seth shed light on NIFT and its essential linkages, collectively enriching the workshop with their knowledge and experience.
