Dr. Nandhivarman Muthu attended the negotiation as an observer from APSCC, and Coordinator, Office of Green Campus, Pondicherry University, India, and spoke on behalf of the Open-ended Network of Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) said, on the closing day of the delegation the Plenary approved the new “Invasive Alien Species” assessment, as well as the new planned assessments, recognizing their roles in supporting the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and other international agreements and the tremendous work done by all authors on the assessment. In addition to all the Member States contributions, India Focal Point Dr. Achuta Nand Shukla from the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change and Chairman C. Achalender Reddy, IFS (Retd.) of the National Biodiversity Authority’s intervention in the assessment sculptured it further said Dr. Nandhivarman Muthu.

He added in his statement, that we stand ready to play our part in supporting the uptake of the Invasive Alien Species assessment report in our respective countries.

Propagating the findings of the report in the Puducherry region would be led jointly by Pondicherry University (PU), the Department for Science, Technology, & Environment (DSTE), the Department of Forest and Wildlife (DFW), and the Association for Promoting Sustainability in Campuses and Communities (APSCC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), considering the transboundary nature. Such collaborative work will facilitate the engagement of diverse stakeholders to take this further to halt and reverse biodiversity loss for the common good said Dr. Nandhivarman Muthu.
