Citizens from across Maharashtra come together to the watch ISRO’s landing of Chandrayaan-3

Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi joins ISRO team via VC to witness this historic moment

Even as Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi joined the ISRO team via Video Conferencing to witness the landing of Chandrayaan 3 on the Moon’s surface , citizens across Maharashtra too came together to watch the ISRO Live Streaming with bated breath as India accomplished the historic feat of a soft landing on the South pole of the moon.
In Mumbai, Nehru Science Centre Mumbai hosted a series of programs to celebrate the landing of Chandrayaan 3 on the moon. The program began with a workshop for students, focusing on the intricate art of crafting Chandrayaan 3 paper models . Following this immersive session, the Centre curated an interactive program with Professor Mayank N Vahia, Former Scientist, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, to offer insights into the Chandrayaan 3 mission, enriching attendees with contextual knowledge and valuable information. Finally, the Live Streaming of the Chandrayaan 3 mission in the Centre's auditorium was enjoyed by more than 400 participants.
National Film Development Corporation celebrated the event by live screening the soft landing of Chandrayaan 3 at the National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC). The event was witnessed by a large number of Mumbaikars. Speaking about the initiative to screen the landing live, Shri. Prithul Kumar, Managing Director, NFDC said "We are very proud to be associated with this momentous occasion. This is a major event not just for India, but the entire world especially for the field of science and technology." Shri. D.Ramakrishnan- General Manager, NFDC, said "I congratulate the entire country and every individual who has contributed to the success of this mission. It is a proud moment for us to witness. NMIC and NFDC congratulates ISRO and every citizen of India on this historic feat." Those who attended the event were elated by the opportunity to watch this historic event on a large screen.
In Pune, hundreds of citizens relived the moment on the big screen of the National Film Museum to a thunderous applause. The hall was rocked with slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai. India became the first country in the world to land a spacecraft on the unexplored south pole of the moon and the happiness and pride could be seen on everyone's face.
A special lecture titled ‘ISRO's journey from Sounding Rockets to Chandrayaan Mission' by Shri M.C. Uttam (Hon. Director, ISRO-UoP Space Technology Cell, SBPU) also took place at IUCAA in Pune, along with the live projection of the Chandrayaan 3 landing.
A selfie booth was installed at the Aga Khan Palace in Pune to celebrate this occasion by the Central Bureau of Communication, Regional Office, Pune. Many tourists made most of this opportunity and posed for pictures.
In Nagpur, the Raman Science Centre and Planetarium, hosted a lecture by Dr. G Sreenivasan, Scientist-Engineer, Regional Remote Sensing Centre (Central) – ISRO, Nagpur. This was followed by a demonstration of Pragyan Rover Model in the SOS theatre along with a show on special features of the moon and finally the live streaming of the landing.
Events organised by various organisations allowed the citizens to understand the meaning of this momentous achievement for the country and also witness and celebrate the landing of Chandrayaan 3 in solidarity with the ISRO scientists.
