As the entire country celebrated the 77th Independence Day today, the National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC) added to the patriotic fervour with a unique event. A spectacular artwork was installed at the premises of NMIC on the occasion of Independence Day. Actress Amrita Rao and RJ Anmol were present at the event, along with senior officials of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and CEO of Censor Board Shri Ravinder Bhakar, for the unveiling of the installation. 

Titled, Living Cinema: Reflections of Society, the artwork traces the journey of Indian Cinema as well as the lives of cine buffs. The artwork explores the idea that every person's life is a cinematic journey - that everyone has a story to tell. 

Speaking about the event, Prithul Kumar, Managing Director, NFDC said, "As an organisation, NFDC is committed to preserving and promoting Indian Cinema. The National Museum of Indian Cinema is the flag-bearer of the preservation efforts that are being made by the government. It traces the entire journey of Indian films, right from the first film that was made in India. The art installation, which has been added to the museum, stands as a representation of NMIC's dedication towards preserving and celebrating the glorious heritage of Indian Cinema. We invite all film lovers to experience the museum and the artwork."   

The unveiling of the installation was followed by screening of ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’ as a mark of respect to all freedom fighters, who sacrificed their lives to fight for India's freedom. Amrita Rao, who was the female protagonist in the film, was present for the screening. "These were the real ironmen- Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekar Azad, and Batukeshwar Dutt. If we are present here today, it's because of the sacrifices they made," she said. 

Speaking about the art installation, Rao said, "The artwork induces a wow factor within the viewer. It is a picturesque monument, which showcases that cinema can be seen through the lens of different age groups." She also thanked NMIC for inviting her and Anmol for the special occasion to unveil the artwork. 

RJ Anmol, who is known for his in-depth interviews of celebrities of the Indian film industry, said that the art installation was a fitting tribute to those who have worked towards giving the Indian film industry the global recognition it enjoys today. Speaking about the movie, he said, "During my childhood, I had watched the movie 'Shaheed' starring Manoj Kumar. After seeing that, I got introduced to the revolutionary Bhagat Singh and since then, I look up to him as an idol. I hope that if any child watches 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh' today, it invokes the same feeling within them."

He was also impressed by the rich heritage that the museum encapsulates. "If you are passionate about Cinema and want to be a part of the film industry, you should definitely visit the National Museum of Indian Cinema. It is like a temple that one should visit to understand the evolution of Indian cinema through 110 years," he said. 

The event saw a turnout of more than 250 enthusiastic cinema lovers, who were also given a guided tour of NMIC, which is India's only comprehensive museum tracing the birth and journey of Indian Cinema.
