The 40th Annual Day celebrations of Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (Divyangjan) AYJNISHD(D), was inaugurated by Chief Guest and Member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Adv. Ashish Shelar, today. The grant inaugural function with various colourful cultural activities provided inclusion and accessibility to all participants including the divyangjan staff and students and their families in various parts of India. The program also provided ambience to demonstrate the four decades of achievements, showcase the evolution and progress across different sectors in consonance with 75 years of achievements, the theme of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

AYJNISHD(D), located at Bandra West, Mumbai, is one of the premier apex national institutes of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DPwD), Under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India.
 
Speaking on the occasion,  Adv. Ashish Shelar appreciated the services, efforts of the teachers, staff and students in their efforts to alleviate the problems of the persons with speech and hearing disabilities in Mumbai and also in the country. He congratulated the continuous service provided by this institute of the Government of India, to the members of the community for the last 40 years. He also awarded all the employees who have completed 10 - 20 years of service and felicitated high achievers amongst the students of AYJNISHD(D).
 

As part of the annual day programme, Dr. Hans, EC Member, Cochlear Implant surgeon deliberated on ‘Cochlear Implants: Adopting the changing trends in technique & technology’. This session aimed to provide the recent scientific trends in the application of technology in the area of cochlear implants for the hearing impaired children.
