Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya spoke as the Chief Guest at the IIMA Healthcare Summit themed “Catalytic Innovation – Start-up Ecosystem and Policy” at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), a leading global management institute, today.
Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said that with effective covid management strategy and exemplary implementation of vaccination drive among its 1.3 billion population, India has gained global recognition and set a proud example before the world. Emphasizing that India has the capability and resources, he said that with the right roadmap, active participation of private and public service players, startup interventions and technological integration can ensure holistic development of the Indian healthcare system, which stands as a shining example today. After the world pandemic. He attributed India's success to the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and said that it was only because of the holistic approach taken by Shri Modi that the nation could achieve this feat.
He further added that a similar holistic approach can help strengthen the health ecosystem. He emphasized that the sector needs more number of doctors, strong infrastructure, adoption of technological advances to reach remote areas of the country and ample opportunities for startups to drive innovation and progress in the sector."
Dr. Mandaviya said that the output that will emerge from the IIM Ahmedabad Healthcare Summit will not only be useful for the country but also for the world. Health sector is one such sector which is being talked about the most in the last 3-4 years. Covid has told us what is lacking in our health sector, what we need to plan for. Today India is a trusted partner of the world. Because while the world was hoarding vaccines, India was running 'Vaccine Maitri'
Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya further said that research and innovation is the greatest need of the country. To promote research in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government has introduced a pharma research policy. The government is taking several steps to promote research and innovation in the health sector.
After the keynote speech, Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya interacted with the students studying at IIM Ahmedabad today on the topic 'Covid Management’s Pathshala'. The talk had interesting discussions with many students. Minister Dr. Mandaviya shared with the students the experience of how India has taken steps for Covid management and concluded by telling them that the students will learn a lot from this discussion.
