NIFT Gandhinagar announceses thecelebration ofNational Handloom Day on August 07, 2023.Prof. Dr. Sameer Sood, DirectorNIFTGandhinagar has said that on this day, various activities will be organized at NIFT Gandhinagar Campus.

He hasalso said that the community of handloom would be acknowledged, and its significance to the socioeconomic advancement of the nation willbebe highlighted. Following are planned at NIFT Gandhinagar Campus.

1. Panel discussion on “Handloom as an Indigenous Industry: Challenges and a way forward.”

2. Exhibition cum demonstration of Handloom techniques and textiles.
3. Quiz competition on Handloom textiles of India
4. Static display / installation Competition by students’ teams on Handloom textiles of India
5. BestDressedHandloom– Selfie Competition

Handloom Day is a wonderful occasion that was created to honour the community of weavers who work with handlooms and celebrate the contributions that have been made to the socioeconomic development of our country.
