Inauguration of Ayush Health Services at Goa

The Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, has established a state-of-the-art healthcare and research facility in Goa. This facility, located at the old G.M.C. Building in Ribandar, Goa will be inaugurated on 14th July 2023 by Shri Sarbanand Sonowal, Union Minister of Ayush and Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways; in the presence of Dr. Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Tourism, Shri Vishwajit Rane, Minister of Health, Government of Goa and officers from Ministry of Ayush

This joint health-care and research facility has been established by Research Councils under the Union Ministry of Ayush namely, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences - Regional Ayurveda Research institute for Mineral and Marine Medicinal Resources, Central Council for Research in Homeopathy - Clinical Research Unit (Homeopathy), Central Council for Research in Siddha - Siddha Clinical Research Unit. Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy -Clinical Research Unit & Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine -  Unani Speciality. The facility aims to provide high-quality and affordable healthcare services to every region of Goa through the traditional systems of Ayush medicine. It is equipped with an outpatient department (OPD), a dispensary, and a Panchakarma center, which will be available to the general public.

To promote research in traditional medicine systems, the facility is developing a museum and library and a laboratory dedicated to conducting research on medicines of mineral and marine origin. These resources will serve as valuable repositories of knowledge and facilitate the exchange of information among researchers, practitioners, and the public.

The establishment of this facility represents the Ministry's vision of expanding healthcare infrastructure and human resources in the Ayush sector. It aims to foster effective collaborations with reputed organizations sharing similar objectives to promote research in traditional medical systems. The facility will also work towards integrating Ayush services with modern medicine and encouraging innovation in the field.
