Hon’ble Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region Shri.G Kishan Reddy released the postal cover on “9 Years of Telangana Statehood” and Picture Post Cards on “Buddhist Heritage in Telangana – Bavapur Kurru” today here at Dak Sadan, Hyderabad.

Addressing the event Shri.G Kishan Reddy said that Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi’s vision and new initiatives helped to transform India Post into a Multi Service Agency providing services to the citizens on value-for-money basis . He said by utilising the services of Postal Department as last mile connectivity , the Govt. of India is planning to make Department of Post as “One Stop Solution” for all services of the schemes so that fruits of welfare schemes are enjoyed and reached to the citizens in the most remotest areas of the country. He emphasised that the Postal Department has transformed itself from delivering of articles to rendering various other welfare schemes and has become the most crucial part of the Govt. of India and the welfare schemes introduced by it.

Appreciating the various initiatives taken by Telangana Postal Circle since its formation in 2016, Union Minister stated that an amount of Rs.7429 Crores were spent in DoP for its various services. After formation of Telangana Postal Circles, 2 new Postal Regions, 17 Postal Divisions, 2 RMS Divisions have been formed with 2608 Post Offices catering to the needs of Telangana State. The Telangana Postal Circle has opened 58 new Post Offices in the villages where there were no banks within a radius of 5kms for the convenience of the public and started its operations, the minister added.

On this occasion , A Set of 5 Picture Post Cards on “Buddhist Heritage in Telangana – Bavapur Kurru” , a special cover carrying a cancellation of “ 2nd Century BC Nagamuchilinda Buddhist Stupa “ excavated at Dhulikatta in Peddapalli District and a brochure on “Transformation of Postal Services” in Telangana State since 2014 were also released by the Union Minister Shri.G Kishan Reddy along with other dignitaries .

 

Postmaster-General, Hyderabad,Dr. PVS Reddy said that the cost of Special Postal Cover on “9 Years of Telangana Statehood” with special cancellation is priced at Rs. 50/-& without cancellation is priced at Rs. 45/- along with Brochure and Picture Post Cards on “Buddhist Heritage in Telangana – Bavapur Kurru” with special cancellation is priced at Rs. 200/-& without cancellation is priced at Rs. 150/- and will be available for sale at all the Philatelic bureaus (all Head Post Offices).
