The Government of India is conducting National Sample Surveys to collect the data on various socio-economic indicators employing scientific sampling methods since 1950. Considering the importance of availability of labour force data at more frequent time intervals, the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) launched Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) in April 2017. The next panel of PLFS will start from July’2023. The panel of PLFS will be of two years duration, which will consist of 8 quarters each of three months duration. Information collected in the survey has been the primary source of statistics on labour force, activity participation of the population and structure of employment and unemployment in the country. These statistical indicators on labour market are required for planning, policy and decision making at various levels, both within government and outside as well as used by various researchers. The survey will be carried out all over India except the villages in Andaman & Nicobar Islands which are difficult to access. To discuss the various aspects of survey, one day conference for officers of Field Operations Division, NSSO, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation who will be conducting the survey in the Western Region of Gujarat will be held on 30th June, 2023 at Regional Office, NSSO (FOD), Ahmedabad. The conference will be inaugurated by Shri S.K. Bhanawat, Dy. Director General & Regional Head of the Gujarat (Western Region) of the Field Operations Division of NSSO. Around 20 field officials who will be conducting and Supervising the Survey in Western Gujarat will participate in the conference.
