Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurates initiative to provide hearing aids to divyang school children

The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated an initiative and handed hearing aids to Divyang children with hearing impairment, in Mumbai today. Addressing the program called ‘Gifting of Sound’ organised by NGO Suryodaya Foundation, Nitin Gadkari said that, hearing aids will be provided to school children with hearing impairment by conducting screening at various places across the country. Such activities will surely create a new ray of hope in the lives of these children, he further said.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that we need to work continuously to facilitate a privileged life to exploited, victimised and specially-abled persons, so that they get the experience of a new life and bring them into the mainstream of society. Lauding the efforts of Suryodaya Foundation, he said that Indian culture has a tradition of repaying debt to society. At a certain stage of life, everyone should try to give something back to the society, repay the social debt. He said that this initiative is associated with this idea, which is a great thing. Individuals, organizations who have attained a special position in the society should take the initiative to implement such activities, he urged. He said that the initiative taken with the spirit of social responsibility to help the persons who are specially-abled from birth or due to some illness or accident is truly commendable.

He said that the land of Maharashtra is gifted with literature, culture and great history. Many saints have imparted message from their teachings to serve the underprivileged people. "We are following the same and have been active in the social sector for past many years and recently distributed the aids to 40 thousand divyang people", he added. He said that we can bring change into the lives of the people with the assistance from technology.

The dignitaries present on the occasion included renowned singer Padmashri Anuradha Paudwal, CEO of Asha Campus Aarti Savoor, CEO of WSA India Avinash Pawar, CMD of Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) Praveen Kumar.
