NEP   paves way  for  revolutionary changes in the education sector of the country: Shri V. Muraleedharan


Kasaragod: March 25, 2023

The sixth Convocation ceremony of the Central University of Kerala, Kasaragod was held at the university campus today in the august presence of   Union Minister of State for Education Dr. Subhas Sarkar and  Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Shri V. Muraleedharan.
Union Minister of State for Education Dr. Subhas Sarkar who attended the function as Chief Guest in his convocation address said that Central Government has been working tirelessly for the improvement of the educational sector both at the school level and higher education level. He emphasized that the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) in India is a comprehensive policy that aims to overhaul the education system in the country. Dr. Subhas Sarkar added that as Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said, the National Education Policy prepares the youth of India for the new century. The Union Minister further added that the country envisages a comprehensive education that will help in sustainable development and NEP envisions improving the quality of education to make it more inclusive, accessible, and equitable for all students.

Detailing how NEP   advocates the creation of futuristic knowledge systems, based on ancient Indian traditions, rich cultural heritage, and wisdom, Dr Subhas Sarkar said, the policy aims to align the education system with the needs of the 21st century and to make India a global leader in education.
Dr. Subhas Sarkar also lauded the Central University of Kerala authorities for adopting a comprehensive waste management system and for the  Green Campus initiative.

Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Shri V. Muraleedharan who graced the occasion as Guest of Honour said that the new education policy paves the way for revolutionary changes in the education sector of the country.  Shri V Muraleedharan said that becoming ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ is the goal of the government and added that India will become the resource capital in a few years. The Union Minister also stressed that the country aims for global development based on humanity.

Vice Chancellor Prof. H. Venkateshwarlu presided over the ceremony During the convocation,   1947 students awarded degrees who completed their studies in 2021 and 2022.

Registrar Dr. M. Muralidharan Nambiar, Controller of Examinations (i/c) Prof. M.N. Musthafa, Court Members, Executive Council Members, Academic Council Members, Finance Committee Members, Deans, Heads of Departments, Teachers, Staff, and People's Representatives attended the function.


In another event held at the campus, Union Ministers Dr. Subhas Sarkar and Shri V. Muraleedharan jointly inaugurated the quarters built for the faculty and the specially built canteens for the hostels at the campus. They also jointly unveiled the statue of Swami Vivekananda on the campus. Later in another event at the campus, Dr. Subhas Sarkar released the brochure of ‘Jnanotsavam 1198’ to be jointly organized by the Central University of Kerala and Vidhyabhyasa Vikas Kendra.
