SEIZURE OF WILDLIFE SPECIES ’01 no. of De Braza monkey (Cercopithecus neglectus), o1 no. of Mantled gureza (Colobus guereza) and 02 nos. Of Spider monkey” BY CHENNAI AIR CUSTOMS

Based on intelligence, one male passenger who arrived from Kuala Lumpur by Air Asia airlines Flight no.AK13 on 19.03.2023 were intercepted by the Custom Officers. On examination of check in luggage, the following wildlife species were found and seized under the Customs Act, 1962 read with Wildlife Protection act 1972:

The above mentioned wildlife species were certified as above on arrival by the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, Southern Region, Chennai and the same were deported back to Kuala Lumpur as instructed by the AQCS.
Further investigation is under progress, according to a press release issued by M.Mathew Jolly, Pr.Commissioner of Customs, Chennai International Airport.
