BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS, CHENNAI GRANTS FIRST CERTIFICATION LICENCE IN THE SOUTHERN REGION FOR MILK AND MILK PRODUCTS TO NANDHINI MEGA HI-TECH POWDER PLANT, KARNATAKA

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the National Standards Body is a statutory body functioning under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. BIS operates various schemes like Product certification (ISI Mark), Management Systems Certification, Hallmarking of Gold & Silver Jewellery & CRS (Compulsory Registration Scheme) for the benefit of common consumers.

Bureau of Indian Standards, Southern Regional Office has granted the first licence in the southern region for “Conformity Assessment Scheme for Milk and Milk Products (CAS MMP) ” to M/s. Nandhini Mega Hi-Tech Powder Plant, Karnataka Milk Federation, Ramanagara, Karnataka.

The CAS MMP scheme was jointly developed by Bureau of Indian Standards(BIS) and National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and provides for integrated licensing of product certification as per Indian Standards, process certification as per NDDB and system certification as per IS/ISO 22000 for all organizations in the domain of milk and milk products.

“Shri. Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Hon’ble Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Environment, Forest and Climate Change” awarded the licence to the firm on the occasion of World Consumer Rights Day celebration at New Delhi on 15 March 2023.

The scheme was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi in December 2021 to facilitate single point certification of Milk and Milk products for the benefit of Indian dairy sector and consumers. The scheme aims at holistic approach towards all aspects of establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving a robust quality eco system in the dairy sector. The certification process has been integrated and simplified, resulting in a significant reduction of time and cost of certification, in the true spirit of “One Nation-One Certification” policy.
