Youth Parliament Competition

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs organizes Youth Parliament Competitions in various schools annually under the following schemes:
- The Scheme of Youth Parliament Competition for schools under Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi and NDMC;
- The Scheme of National Youth Parliament Competition for Kendriya Vidyalayas;
- The Scheme of National Youth Parliament Competition for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas ;
As per the schemes, the competitions are organized among the schools as sponsored by the respective parent organizations i.e. the Directorate of Education of Government of NCT of Delhi & Deptt. of Education of NDMC; Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan; and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti respectively. The schools are sponsored by the respective parent organizations on the basis of their own organizational structures not on the basis of the states.
31 Delhi Schools, 125 Kendriya Vidyalayas and 62 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas participated under the respective schemes in the Youth Parliament Competitions for 2019-20. However, no Youth Parliament Competition for 2020-21 and 2021-22 could be organized due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As per the respective schemes, this Ministry reimburses expenses up to Rs. 10,000/- to each participating Delhi school for conducting Youth Parliament sitting. Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti is reimbursed up to Rs 25,000/- for each participating Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya for conducting Youth Parliament sitting at the Regional Level and up to Rs. 80,000/- for hosting the competition at the National Level. However, no financial assistance is required to be provided to the Schools under Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.
Besides the above schemes, this Ministry also implements the Scheme of Financial Assistance to States/UTs for organizing Youth Parliament Competitions in all recognized Higher Secondary Educational Institutions/High Schools in the States/UTs. The financial assistance is provided if the claim for the same is received from the States/UTs after conducting Youth Parliament Sitting as per the following limits: -
- UTs having no legislature – Rs 2 lakhs p.a.
- Legislatures of states/UTs having members up to 100 -Rs. 3 lakhs p.a.
- Legislatures of states/UTs having members between 100 -200 -Rs. 4 lakhs p.a.
- Legislatures of state/UTs having members above 200 - Rs. 5 lakhs p.a.
