Council of Scientific & Industrial Research is organising a “Coordinators’ Conclave-cum-Workshop for CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative” of all the nodal officers from February 16-17, 2023 at International Centre Goa (ICG), and CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO), Dona Paula, Goa. Over 80 individuals are participating in the Conclave, including CSIR scientists, senior representatives from National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), State Government of Goa and other stakeholders.

In order to bring CSIR’s R&D knowledgebase and available resources under one-roof, which can be effectively utilized for addressing the nation’s major thrust towards Skill Development, CSIR launched a national-level unique Programme “CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative” in 2016.

Major focus of this Initiative is to equip young minds with the necessary technological skills through exposure to CSIR laboratories and address the critical needs for the technical gap created by the enormous usage of advanced technology.

Beneficiaries from this Initiative are at various levels beginning with school dropouts to farmers to ITI diploma holders to graduates and doctorates. CSIR has so far trained over 1.00 lakh personnel, under this Initiative, including special programmes for rural citizens and women. Broad scientific areas covered are Biological, Chemical, Engineering and Physical Sciences. CSIR targets to train over 100000 personnel under this program in Phase-II (2020-2025).

The Conclave - CSIR-Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), Ghaziabad (UP), the Training Unit of CSIR has been playing a significant role by periodically reviewing, monitoring and evaluating the performance of the Initiative.
