Manipur to host the first of the four B20 sessions scheduled in the North East

Manipur will be hosting the first of the four B20 sessions scheduled in the North East tomorrow, which is the official G20 dialogue forum for the global business community.
The B20 conference scheduled on 17th February 2023 will be graced by Shri N Biren Singh, Chief Minister, Government of Manipur; Shri Som Prakash, Minister of State, Commerce & Industries, Government of India and Dr R K Ranjan Singh, Minister of State, External Affairs, Government of India in the presence of senior government officials from the state and centre.
Briefing media persons on the upcoming event, Thounaojam Basanta Kumar, Minister-in-charge Education, Government of Manipur, informed that the event will witness the convergence of a host of overseas delegates from 23 nations representing Australia, Argentina, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Chad, Canada, China, France, Greece, Iceland, Japan, Nepal, Russia, Seychelles, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Tunisia, Uganda, United States and United Kingdom. He further mentioned that the dignitaries includes 26 overseas business delegates and 24 diplomats including Ambassadors from these countries and India. Incoming Trade and Business delegations and representatives from Bhutan, Bangladesh, Japan, and Australia will also participate at the programme.
He further stated that the State Government has made elaborate arrangements for the three days event to showcase the potential the State can offer to the delegates on: Health and Family Welfare, Skill Development, Sports, Urban Development, Textiles, Finance & Taxation, Tourism, Industries & Commerce, IT, Agriculture and Fisheries. As part of the programme, the Chief Minister will also facilitate Business to Business and Business to Government meetings. Visiting overseas business delegates would get the opportunity to interact with the local industry during the B2B and with the Government in the B2G session for potential investment, collaboration and tieups.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Tourism Shri Pradeep Kumar Jha lamented that taking advantage of the presence of a large contingent of international delegates, the Government of Manipur is making elaborate arrangements not only to showcase investment and partnership opportunities in the State but also provide a unique experience for visiting delegates with an exposure to Manipur's culture, cuisine, art, festivities, and scenic beauty. The Commissioner further said that the security details for the delegates are all women police personnel to showcase women empowerment. He also mentioned that all delegates will visit the renowned Ima Market during their visit.

Over 100 B2B and B2G requests have been generated including request for interaction with government departments - Health and Family Welfare, Skill Development, Sports, Urban Development, Textiles, Finance & Taxation, Tourism, Industries & Commerce, IT, Agriculture and Fisheries.
