Invest India, DPIIT Organises Awareness Campaign on ODOP-DEH Sampark in Kolkata

Invest India under Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal trade (DPIIT), Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry today organised One District one Product-District as Export Hubs (ODOP-DEH) awareness campaign in the city in collaboration with PIB, Kolkata. Besides, the Department of MSME and Textile, Government of West Bengal was also associated with this campaign.
The campaign held at Press Club, today, brought together stakeholders from various sectors, including artisans, weavers, manufacturers, and beneficiaries under the ambit of ODOP-DEH. The ODOP-DEH team engaged in discussions with these stakeholders, providing updates on their products and the support and guidance available from the government.
After a brief introduction on ODOP-DEH initiative by ODOP-DEH team representative Prerna Preyasi on various interventions being undertaken to establish a stronger brand for India's unique products and interacted with the artisans from various districts of West Bengal, Shri Hardik Singh another senior member of the team while discussing targets of ODOP-DEH initiative regarding capacity development, domestic market linkages, international engagements and awareness & branding talked about the works done for West Bengal, where 58 products have been identified in three parts-primary, secondary and tertiary. He appreciated the diversity of the products in West Bengal and mentioned that the products from West Bengal like jute, Dokra, and Jamdani reached a global platform and were displayed at the World Economic Forum, Davos. The ODOP-DEH team in collaboration with the Department of Post organised the first export workshop. The workshop focused on utilizing the new Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra portal. OneGeM OEM training session was also conducted for District Collectors/Nodal officers from West Bengal and talked about the benefits of the initiative.
The ODOP-DEH initiative is a part of the Government of India's efforts to promote the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and to support the development of indigenous products. The nationwide awareness campaign for ODOP-DEH is aimed at improving the economic viability of MSMEs and promoting the consumption of locally made products.
Smt. Sayani Kundu, of Biswa Bangla discussed how the Department of MSME and Textile is directly working with artisans and weavers for quality enhancement, unique design development and new artisan enlistment and skill and economic development of artisans.
The artistes and artisans coming from various corners of the State like Nadia, Purulia, Bishnupur, Murshidabad, Darjeeling, Sunderbans participated in the programme and exhibited their products. They shared their success stories and discussed the role of the State Government to develop the economic viability of their products and businesses.
