Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the National Standards Body is a statutory body functioning under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. BIS operates various schemes like Product certification (ISI Mark),  Management Systems Certification, Hallmarking of Gold & Silver Jewellery & CRS (Compulsory Registration Scheme) for the benefit of common consumers.

 

          BIS has completed 75 glorious years in serving the Nation and has entered the 76^th year Today, 06 January 2023. To Commemorate the BIS Foundation day, various programmes are being conducted by BIS Today, Tomorrow and Day after Tomorrow.

 

Door-To-Door “Quality Connect” Campaign by Students of 7 Colleges (Manak Mitra) to houses of common consumers for creation of awareness abouts the Standards & Quality is commencing Today. The Flagoff Ceremony was done by Shri USP Yadav, Deputy Director General, BIS , Southern Region at SRM Easwari Engineering College today morning and Students from SRM Easwari Engineering College, Aarupadi Veedu Institute of Technology, Shanmuga Industries Arts and Science College, Stella Maris College, DG Vaishnav College, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram & SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Potheri shall be undertaking the Quality Connect Campaign on behalf of BIS. These Manak Mitras will engage comprehensively with the household and share the information about BIS activities to Common Consumers.

 

BIS is also conducting Nukkad Nataks (Street Plays) for creating awareness on Standards and Quality. These Nukkad Nataks are conducted through eminent Koothup Pattarai during today, tomorrow and day after tomorrow at Prime Locations like Besant Nagar Beach, Marina Beach, Guindy National Park, Vandaloor Zoo and at Mahaballipuram Beach.

 

Various inhouse programmes/Cultural activities/Sports activities are also planned for the employees of BIS Today at BIS Southern Regional Office, according to a press release issued by H.Ajay Khanna, Deputy Director (Marketing & Consumer Affaris).
