Digital India and Skill India were the two important pillars that would transform the future, said Union Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar. New India belonged to its youth. It offered them great opportunities. Students pursuing degree courses must enrol themselves in skill upgradation programmes as well. This would help them get into the digital space, he added.

The Minister was interacting with students from 20 colleges of Kerala in an event organised under the initiative – ‘New India for Young India - Techade of Opportunities’ in the campus of Catholic Bishop House at Thamarassery.

Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the old concept of India had totally changed. In 1985, while the Government spent ₹100 for a project, only ₹15 reached the target sector. But, today when ₹100 was spent, the entire amount reached the beneficiaries.
In the New India, there were no boundaries for opportunities. Not only that, opportunities were open to all, both in rural and urban areas, the Minister said. Rs 7.5 lakh crores had been invested this year for infrastructure development. A large amount of money was being spent on modernization. Tax collection target had exceeded by 25%.
Post Covid period showcased India's strength to the world. While the US faced unprecedented inflation and Chinese economy contracted in the last three quarters, India became the 5th largest economy with 86,000 start-ups.
The Minister said that with India stepping into the field of semi-conductors, several Indians working abroad wanted to come back to the country. The Government would also soon start a digital India innovation Fund, he informed.
