Shri. C.Achalender Reddy, IFS (Retd) has taken charge as the Chairperson of the National Biodiversity Authority, Chennai, a statutory institution established by the Government of India to implement the Biological Diversity Act, 2002. The National Biodiversity Authority is the Competent National Authority of India for the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity. The post of Chairperson, National Biodiversity Authority is equivalent to the post of Secretary to the Government of India.

Shri. C.Achalender Reddy is a 1986 batch Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officer belonging to AGMUT cadre and has served in different capacities in Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He served as Secretary of National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) during 2009-14 and as Director of Centre for Innovation in Public Systems (CIPS), Hyderabad till recently. He is an alumni of Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, Hyderabad and hails from Jangoan district in Telangana.
