The Nation is progressing rapidly in field of technology and in the current boom of technology-led start-ups, there are around 250 Geospatial Start-up’s in the country which reflects the spirit of innovation said Union Minister of Jal Shakthi Shri Gajendra Singh Shekawat. The Union Minister delivers keynote address at a 3 Day ( 15-17 Nov 2022 ) conference GEO SMART INDIA 2022 held in Hyderabad today. Addressing the event Shri Shekawat said that various Geospatial pilot projects are implemented in the domains of Agriculture, rural development, forestry, water resources management, urban planning shows the strength and progress of Nation in this direction. On this occasion Minister recollected the Prime Minister’s note1 at the inaugural of the second United Nations World Geospatial Information Congress (UNWGIC) that was held in Hyderabad specifying that Government of India is working on a vision of Antyodaya which means empowering the last person at the last mile, in a mission mode.

Minster also emphasized that the government, industry, and academia must join hands to develop this geospatial knowledge infrastructure to support holistic national development encompassing both rural and urban development, and economic, social, and environmental parameters.
Later, the two reports Geospatial Artha, Geospacial Strategy For National Development were released in the presence of Honourable Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Dr. Prakash Chauhan, President, ISRS, Dr. Raj Kumar, President, ISG, Secretary, and Dr. M. Ravichandran, Ministry of Earth Sciences. The report highlights that the Indian geospatial industry is transitioning to become a solutions industry instead of a services . According to the report, Defence and Intelligence, Utilities, Urban Development, Infrastructure Development, Agriculture, Utilities, and Land Administration are expected to drive the growth in the market. India’s Geospatial Economy which is currently valued at around INR 41600 crore, and employing, 5,45,000 people, is poised to grow to INR 61,000 crores by the end of 2025, reported by the Geospatial Strategy for National Development report that was unveiled at the GeoSmart India 2022 conference, in Hyderabad
