A 3-day Photo Exhibition on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav began at Bahona, Jorhat
MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa inaugurated Exhibition, organised by Central Bureau of Communication, showcasing sacrifices of freedom fighters of the Northeast, as well as the achievement of the NDA government in 8 Years

The Central Bureau of Communication, Guwahati under Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has organised a three-day multimedia exhibition on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav & 8 Years of Seva, Sushasan and Garib Kalyan at the playground of Bahona Boys' HS School at Bahona, Jorhat from 14-16 November 2022. Shri. Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha, alongwith Dr. Jayanta Deka, Dean, Assam Agricultural University, Sri. Damodar Barman, ADC Jorhat, Sri Prasanna Kumar Dutta, Principal, Bahona College and Shri Arijit Chakraborty, Deputy Director, CBC, inaugurated the Photo Exhibition on Celebrating 75 years of India's Independence today. Around 50 creatives, including 9 freedom-fighters of the North-East are featured at the exhibition.
Addressing the public, Shri Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Rajya Sabha Member, informed that the exhibition is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of the country's independence and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. He said that exhibition presents an opportunity to learn about the history of the country's freedom struggle and the events following the Partition. Expressing his gratitude to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Rajya Sabha MP said that these kinds of exhibitions are useful for citizens to remember the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and said that as we remember the sacrifices, the young generation gets the inspiration to do their best for the country. He urged school and college students to visit the exhibition in large numbers and get to know our rich history. Shri. Tasa praised Central Bureau of Communication, Guwahati for choosing Bahona as the venue, where freedom fighter late Lokheswar Baruah not only had the courage to stand up against the British colonial rule, but also declared the tiny Charigaon mouza as an independent nation and himself as its president in year 1942. The Rajya Sabha Member urged the people to remember the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters for the country's independence. Shri Tasa also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts to highlight the freedom fighters as well the unsung heroes and expressed his gratitude for always focusing on the development of the North Eastern region.
Dr. Jayanta Deka, Dean, Assam Agricultural University, remarked that such an exhibition will create awareness amongst the people regarding the freedom fighters' struggle. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Deka apprised that the exhibition will help the masses to know about the sacrifice and valour of the freedom fighters of our Nation.
Shri Biman Baruah, son of freedom fighter Late Lakheswar Baruah, was faliciated by the Hon'ble Rajya Sabha MP Shri Kamakhya Prasad Tasa in the inauguration ceremony of the photo exhibition on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Deputy Director, CBC, Guwahati, Shri Arijit Chakraborty, delivered the welcome address. Smt. Smita Saikia, Field Publicity Officer, CBC gave the vote of thanks.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by officials of CBC, Education dept, PRI members and other dignitaries.
