Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science, Technology and Earth Sciences Shri Jitendra Singh will inaugurate Combination Devices Block, BMT Wing at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram  tomorrow. (15th November). The event will be held at 12.30 PM. Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Shri V Muraleedharan will also address the event. The facility of 1,20,000 Sq.ft  is being constructed with the financial support of Rs 53 crores from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. This initiative will help the SCTIMST to contribute towards developing medical devices which combine with drugs to manage the futuristic needs of the nation.

Once operational, the Combination Devices Block will house laboratories and facilities for the development of In-vitro diagnostics, Point of Care Devices, Biosensors, Tissue engineered products, devices incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR), Orthotics and Rehabilitation, Micro electromechanical systems (MEMS) and micro robotics-based devices for the benefit of healthcare needs of the society.

Shri V Sivankutty,  Minister for General Education and Labour , Smt Veena George , Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Shri V V Rajesh, Councilor, Poojapura, Thiruvananthapuram  will give felicitation. Prof Sanjay Behari, Director, SCTIMST and Dr. Harikrishna Varma P R,Head, BMT Wing will also attend the event. 

Shri Jitendra Singh will also address all Staff and Students at Hospital Wing at Achutha Menon Centre Auditorium, SCTIMST at 11 AM.
