Goa Postal Region celebrates ‘National Postal week’


Department of Posts aims to surpass figure of 4.5 lakh accounts opened last year

Goa Postal Region is celebrating National Postal week from October 9 to October 13 this year. The second day of National Postal week is celebrated as ‘Vittiya Sashaktikaran Diwas’.

On this occasion, 15 postal employees were felicitated for their outstanding contribution to postal services.

   

Postmaster General Sayeed Rashid congratulated all the achievers and asked them to continue their good work. He urged postal employees to encourage more people to open savings accounts. Thanks to the efforts of the Department of Posts, last year 4.5 lakh accounts were opened at the national level. 1.5 lakh out of these were Small Savings Accounts. This year the department aims to surpass this figure, said the PostMaster General.

The Department has planned the following events during the course of their celebrations.

   

On 11th October 2022 – ‘Philately Day’: Celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. On 12th October 2022 – ‘Mails and Parcel Day’ and on 13th October 2022 – ‘Antyodya Diwas’ – Will be celebrated to commemorate the contribution of the Department of Posts to the lives of the common man. Awareness on ‘Aadhar’ enrolment and updation is also taken during the week long celebrations.
