Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah addressed the Hindi Divas -2022 Celebrations and Second All India Official Language Conference in Surat, Gujarat today. Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendra Patel, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Ajay Kumar Mishra, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri NishithPramanik, Minister of State for Railways Smt. DarshanaJardosh, Minister of State for Education, Shri RajkumarRanjan Singh and Secretary, Department of Official Language were present on the occasion.

In his address, Shri Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Shri NarendraModi  has given a call that during the AmritKal, the countrymen should take a pledge that in the coming 25 years, our country will develop our own languages by becoming free from any linguistic inferiorities and take the country to the highest position of the world. He said that our official language and local languages ​​are amongst the richest languages ​​of the world and unless we take a pledge that our government, administration, knowledge, science and research should be carried in our languages ​​and official language, we will not be able to utilize the capabilities of this country.

The Union Home Minister said that Surat is the land of the ‘Veer Narmad’ and perhaps he was the first to highlight the importance of his languages ​​in the country. ‘Veer Narmad’ was the first to give the dream of a Garvi Gujarat to the Gujarati people and first of all told the British that the governance and culture of this country should be continued in Hindi. Shri Shah said that Mahatma Gandhi had said that this nation is dumb without Hindi as the official language. Mahatma Gandhi workedin keeping the pride of our official language in front of the whole world with a single sentence. He said that Hindi is the language of our mind, patriotism and people and we have to take it forward. He said that Prime Minister NarendraModi has sown the seeds of education in our own language through the new National Education Policy-2020. When the Nation celebrates the Centenary of its Independence, this will yield in making India self-reliant in languages, by developing all languages ​​of the country simultaneously. In the new National Education Policy, the most emphasis has been given to convert primary and further education into our own languages and courses of research, court, medical, science, technology and engineering in our own language.

Shri Amit Shah said that local languages ​​and Hindi are the lifeblood of our cultural fluency. To understand the spirit of our culture, history and literary creation done by many generations, one has to learn the official language. He said that the time has come to uproot the feeling of linguistic inferiority from across the country through the use of official language and local languages. Shri Shah said that LokmanyaBalgangadharTilak's vision of Swaraj was not only about change in governance, but he also raised his voice for self-language, self-religion and self-culture. He said that by following the path on which the country is walking under the leadership of Prime Minister Modiji, we will fulfillLokmanyaTilak's dream of Swaraj.

The Union Home Minister told the youth of the country that language is not a sign of ability but language is expression. Our  abilities does not depend on for any language and the youth of the country should come out of this inferiority of language and accept their own language and work to take it forward. Unless the youth of the country on the basis of his abilities, will not express his original thoughts in his language, he can never fully present his abilities in front of the society because the expression of original thought cannot be in any other language better than the self-language. Prime Minister NarendraModi has addressed the whole world in Hindi with pride on every global stage and if anyone who has been heard the most on the global stage, then it is the Prime Minister of our country Shri NarendraModi .Modiji spoke in his own language, his expression is accurate and comes from the depths of the mind, so its acceptance is also high.

Shri Amit Shah urged the parents to interact with the children in their own language at home.Atlest once the children must be taught their own language for their golden future because until the child does not learn his own language, he cannot connect with the culture of the country, cannot understand the history of the country and cannot connect with the country. Shri Shah said that the first edition of a Hindi to Hindi comprehensive dictionary 'Hindi ShabdSindhu' has been launched here today. He said that if Hindi is to be made accepted in the public, country and the world, then the dictionary of Hindi will have to be made wide. No language becomes smaller by taking words from another language, but it becomes bigger and bigger and we also have to make Hindi flexible and accepted and the words taken from many languages ​​in it will have to be accepted in Hindi also.

The Union Home and Cooperation Minister while requesting local language dictionaries, said that if we want that the language of court and law should be Gujarati, Marathi, Bangla or any other local language, then by accepting some of their words, we should make it wider. We have made this dictionary completely digital and inventive. It covers a lot of terminology in the subject of Mass Communication, Medical Science, Sports, Space Science, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. He said that ISRO has done a great job by publishing its entire saga in the form of poetry in the official language. This poetry is going to become a means of taking the achievements of ISRO to the masses. He said that today Memorandum 2.0 has also been released which will become a great tool for teaching Hindi speaking in the coming days.

Shri Amit Shah said that our country is linguistically very rich. There are many dialects and languages ​​here and each language is rich in itself and is a great strength of our country. These languages ​​have preserved our culture, tradition and literature and through these languages ​​have worked to connect the people of our country with the nation. He said that those who propagate that Hindi is a competitive language of local languages, I want to tell them that Hindi is not a competitor but a friend of all local languages. With the prosperity of Hindi, all the languages ​​of this country will prosper and Hindi will prosper only when all the languages ​​of the country become prosperous, all people should accept and understand this. As long as we do not accept the coexistence of languages, we cannot prove it by running our country in our own languages. It should be our goal to keep every language, dialect alive and enrich them. If the leaders had not used official language and local language in our freedom movement, then the freedom movement would never have expanded so much.

People like VinobaBhave and KakasahebKalelkar devoted their whole life to Hindi and the localelf-language. LokmanyaBalgangadharTilak had said in the first public Ganesh festival that the prosperity of language is the seed of freedom and we must move forward to speak in our own languages. Shri Shah said that Hindi has always been an inclusive language and that is why it has been translated into many languages ​​including Malayalam, Assamese and Tamil, whether it is Jhansi ki Rani poem by SubhadraKumari Chauhan or MakhanlalChaturvedi'sPushp Ki Abhilash. He said that looking at the history of the freedom movement shows that the British, including MunshiPremchand's story collection SozeWatan, had to ban many poems and literature in our official language and local languages. It tells how much emphasis was given to the freedom movement by the official language and local languages.

Shri Shah said that if we make Swabhasha and Rajbhasha a medium to give a platform to such children, then 100 percent capacity of the country will be utilised. Shri Amit Shah said that the country has reached this place with only 6 percent capacity utilization and when 100 percent capacity is utilized then the country will be the first in the world and our dream of creating a great India will also be fulfilled. He said that with the resolve of Prime Minister Shri NarendraModiduring AzadiKaAmritMahotsav, today is the day to take a resolution to fulfill it.
