Shri V. Sankaran, former Director News, AIR, Chennai, died late last night after a brief illness. He was 74.

He has worked in RNI, PIB, AIR and DPR (Defence). He also served as correspondent during the Sri Lankan issue.

He served in Puducherry All India Radio for more than 10 years as correspondent.

Even after retirement he was continuously assisting the News Section as a casual News Editor till the COVID epidemic broke. His mortal remains are being taken to his hometown in Tirunelveli district. His last rites will be held in his village Ayyanarkulam in Tirunelveli district. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
