DGP calls upon youngsters to join armed forces

Central Bureau of Communication, Goa, Government of India, I Goa Battalion NCC Panaji and All Goa Ex-servicemen Association jointly organized Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations in Panaji today, July 26, 2022.

As part of the programs, DGP Goa Shri Jaspal Singh IPS, and Panaji Mayor Shri Rohit Monserrate paid tributes to Indian soldiers who laid down their lives in the Kargil War by laying wreaths at the Martyrs Memorial at Azad Maidan, Panaji. Kargil veterans, ex-servicemen and NCC cadets also paid tributes to the war heroes at the function.

Addressing the gathering, DGP Shir Jaspal Singh IPS said that the Kargil war victory was a symbol of the bravery of Indian armed forces. “War in any form is not good for any country. India is a country that has always stood for peace. But when the enemy country launched an attack on India’s sovereignty, our armed forces faced that challenge with all the bravery and emerged victorious,” he said.

   

Today’s world, the biggest challenge for a country is internal security. “Nowadays, any enemy country can launch a proxy war with less expenditure against the internal security of a country. India, however, is successfully facing all such misadventures of such enemy countries. That is possible only because of our competent intelligence agencies. That same agencies had played an important role in our victory in Kargil war,” the DGP said.

Noting that the security forces in the country are in need for skilled youth, the DGP called upon the youngsters to contribute their skills and knowledge to the country by joining the forces.

Major Venugopal Nair, Secretary of Goa Sainik Welfare Board, members of All Goa Ex-servicemen Welfare Association and Goa Human Resource Development Corporation were also present on the occasion,

After the floral tributes, the Mayor and the DGP flagged off a Tiranga rally which started from the Azad Maidan and culminated at Government Youth Hostel, Campal. At the Youth Hostel, veterans who took part in the Kargil war were felicitated by Central Bureau of Communication. Major Venugopal Nair, Secretary of Goa Sainik Welfare Board, also spoke to the gathering and NCC cadets about career opportunities in the armed force.

Cultural programs were also performed by Goan cultural troupes and NCC cadets at the function.
