Reviews implementation of Central schemes in Kolhapur District

Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Dairying | Information & Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan today visited All India Radio’s Kolhapur Kendra. He reviewed the programmes being done by Kolhapur Kendra and also saw the studio and archive facility. Minister directed the officials to focus on running programmes on beneficiaries of central government schemes so that other people are also encouraged to come forward to take benefit of them.

About AIR Kolhapur

Kendra was commissioned in 1992. It broadcasts News, Music, interview-based programmes as well as book reading and Phone-in programmes. Kendra broadcasts programmes in Marathi language and covers approximately 40 lakh population the districts of Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Belgaon, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.

AIR Kolhapur is a local radio station but programme pattern adopted by station is replica of primary channel station. The programmes are broadcast through FM transmitter which is situated for 27 Kms away from Kolhapur city. The frequency of the station in 102.7 MHz. The regional news in Marathi language are being relayed from All India Radio Mumbai in the evening and Pune in the morning.  It also relays 10 minute programmes from News Service Division of All India Radio New Delhi. Deputy Director General (Engineering) Shri Adhir Gadpale received Minister in AIR, Kolhapur. Akashvani Programme Head Dr Sunil Gaikwad was also present on this occasion.

Earlier,  Dr. L. Murugan  took review of implementation of central government schemes in Kolhapur today. District Collector Shri Rahul Rekhawar and other officials from district and Kolhapur Municipal Corporation were present on this occasion.

Shri Murugan was appraised about how Kolhapur not only produces enough milk for district but manages to satisfy major portion of milk demand from Metro cities.

Shri Murugan was briefed by district authorities about 11 crore rupees having spent for Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. He was also informed about 2,24,000 cards that are issued under Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

Union Minister also sought information about implementation of Pradhan Mantri Yojana and was briefed about 2870 houses that have been allotted to the district and about 1570 houses that have been handed over to beneficiaries.

District Collector informed about the initiative where Soil quality of whole village showing deficiencies if any is prominently being displayed for the benefit of whole village. It was also informed that 50,000 soil health cards have been issued in the district.

Minister was informed that of the target of 19,744 houses for PMAY (Urban) 7196 Non-slum houses are ready however the house construction in slum areas being delayed due to opposition of slum dwellers to vertical development. Minister was acquainted about Light House Project started by Kolhapur in which people are being given tenure rights and fund of Rs. 2.5 lakh to build houses.

Shri Murugan also made enquiries about women and SC/ST beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana.

Shri Murugan is expected to visit Amrit Sarovar being built in Kolhapur while heading to Belgaum for airport.
