ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI) under the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in coordination with Indian Society for Root Crops(ISRC) organised Shri Visakham Thirunal Endowment lecture on “Climate Change and Renewable Energy”. Dr. R.V.G Menon, former director of ANERT and IRTC gave the lecture at CTCRI, Thiruvananthapuram. He said ways to reduce the use of fossil fuels should be explored with the judicious use of natural resources like solar power, water, wind energy. He also emphasised on exploring the use of  bio fuel and bio diesel.   
Dr. M.N.Sheela, Director of the institute presided over the function and Shri Adithya Varma of  Travancore Royal family delivered special address. Dr. J.Sreekumar, Vice- President, Indian Society for Root Crops welcomed the gathering. Around 200 participants that included ISRC members, invited guests, research scholars and students took part in this function in a hybrid mode. Dr. Visalakshi Chandra, Joint Secretary proposed the vote of thanks.
