Tender coconut leaves (Kuruthola), a unique product exported from Kerala for the churches in Europe & UK

Tender leaves of coconut traditionally called “kuruthola”, a unique product for special occasion of Palm Sunday has been airlifted to UK & Europe from Kochi on 6th April 2022. Palm Sunday falls on the Sunday before Easter. 263 kgs of the product have been exported to Europe & U K. These fresh tender coconut palm leaves are being sent through courier to 40 locations in different countries & churches in EU & UK.
Agriculture & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce & Industry has facilitated export of this unique product through its registered exporter, M/s. Geekey International, Thrissur Kerala.
This in fact is a traditional product that is an example of 'making the local reach the global'. It is expected to augmenting prestige of Indian products in global market.
After they receive a good response they plan to send it in large quantities in future to EU, UK & other parts of the world on the special occasion of Palm Sunday..
